Public Protector of SA Procurement Law Training

Between 2016 and 2019, APLU conducted an intensive training programme for all investigators of the Office of the Public Protector of South Africa in all regions across South Africa. The initiative was conceived by then-Deputy Public Protector, Adv Kevin Malunga, who invited APLU to offer its assistance in strengthening the capacity of especially investigators at the Office of the Public Protector in the area of public procurement law. The project was financially assisted by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in South Africa.

In 2025, APLU launched a second round of the training programme to refresh previous participants’ knowledge in public procurement and provide training to those that did not attend the first round. The second round was supported by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) as part of the Transparency, Integrity, and Accountability Programme in South Africa (TIP).
